PRINCIPAL'S WELCOME

Welcome back to another school year! The summer has gone by so fast, and we are very excited to welcome you and your children back to school! We presently have 500 students in 23 classes in both English and French.   For those of you that are new to Truro Elementary, I want you to know that you are coming to an absolutely wonderful school!  Our teachers and staff are caring, innovative, and have been working diligently all summer to ensure that they are at their best and able to provide your child with the best education in the area. We are a collaborative and driven group of educators who strive to have our students reach their highest potential. We look forward to working together with you to ensure that our students have a fun and engaging educational experience. We firmly believe that building strong relationships between home and school is one of the most important factors in increasing student achievement. The partnerships between home and school not only helps our students be successful but also our overall school community.

We maintain a database of email addresses so we can email many of the memos and newsletters that go home.   Please include your email address on the registration forms that were sent home for review.  Please note that medical information needs to be updated yearly.  If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us here at school.  Working together we can make this another great year for your children.  It is a privilege to be a part of this community where parents, teachers, and students care for one another and build positive and lasting relationships supporting our students academically, socially, and emotionally.

Thank you for allowing us to work with your children!

-Jeff Lynds, Principal

Introducing Mr. Taran Jordan, Grade 4 Teacher

My name is Taran Alexander Jordan and I am a grade four teacher here at Truro Elementary. For as long as I can remember, becoming a teacher was a goal of mine. I never had the opportunity of being taught by an individual who shared, reflected, and represented my culture so that was something that I wanted to change for the generations coming after me. I attended Dalhousie University where I obtained my Bachelor if Science in Psychology and then graduated with my Bachelor of Education from Mount Saint Vincent University. My favourite pass times and hobbies consist of coaching and playing basketball, golfing, and playing video games on my X Box One!
